About this Photograph
Just to be clear, this is not a picture of an africanized killer bee. I named it "Killer Bee" becasue it was a great shot of the bee's profile and I love the fact that the pollen from the flower in the background has stained the yellow pedal. This picture was taken in the public gardens near the locks in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

There is a very scary situation arising for bees and bee keepers called Colony Collapse Disorder. Bee keepers are reporting that up to 75% of their bees have died and we are not sure what the cause is. Some speculate that cellular phones signals are disrupting their communication systems, while others point at pesticides as the culprit. We may never know the reason for the bee's death but one thing should be clear. Without bees, our own existence will be threatened because bees are the slaves of agriculture and are responsible for the production of all the worlds produce. Without bees we have no effective way to pollenate our trees and plants leaving us with no fruit or vegetables. This could lead to a "Human Colony Collapse Disorder".
