About this Photograph
This had to be the friendliest butterfly that I have ever encountered. It flew from this exact spot three times and had returned each and everytime. I was in awe of its beauty and the prospect that I could capture this beautiful insect and the 40-foot waterfall in the background. I was lucky to capture both in this photo.

I lived in Arizona for 8 years before I discovered Fossil Creek. This creek once ran dry due to a hydro-electric dam, but has now been restored to it's natural beauty. Fossil Creek still has a long way to go before it recovers. There are 17-miles of waterfalls, emerald-green pools, and beautiful Southwestern flora and fauna. However, visitors and campers leave garbage, beer cans, and abandoned furniture all of the time. It disgusts me how quickly and profoundly some people insult and show utter contempt for our lands as they deface them with their trash.
